Marathon 3 - Wicklow

We woke up to a real overcast morning, but after breakfast, as we literally crossed the road, the clouds cleared and the sun came out. There was a great turn out and even 6 members of the Earls family turned up so there was great comradery with them. A guy by the name of Shane Pearson was doing his first marathon and we just about managed to stay with him. This was a four lap course and the reception along the promenade was amazing for each of the laps and helped spur us on so much. Along the promenade there were Irish dancers, music in the band-stand and even a DJ which really created a great buzz about the place.

So this was a step into the unknown for us as we had never done 3 marathons in succession before. We had done two on our training weekends leading up to it but didn't know how we were really going to feel. It was a tough course, very hilly, but it was the last lap that really got us with this one, the downhill to Bray Head was a killer but there was a group of runners who joined us for the last lap and that gives such distraction on the way round. So we all finished in the middle of the promenade to sunshine and music - sure where else would you rather be?! This was all topped of with a plunge in the Irish sea which is as good as any ice bath. Until tomorrow.. Slán.
